EVERYTHING IN LIFE IS DIVINE INTERVENTION AND KANDAWADA IS A PART OF THAT Copy
PREMA & DVR SESHADRI
April 28, 2023
DVR Seshadri has had a distinct childhood experience growing up on IIT (and later IIM) campuses surrounded with massive trees, greenery, and landscapes of nature. His own exemplary achievements right from the time he was a brilliant student having studied in some of the best institutions, took him across the globe. The exposure as a young man abroad and as a patriot who returned to India wanting to contribute to his country, DVR (as he is fondly addressed) is the personification of a melting pot of global experiences. “I was an idealist as a young man,” he says walking down the memory ane, “In my mind, there is no nation in the world as superior as India. In terms of our culture, our heritage, our history, and our traditions. I am a die-hard Indian at heart, head, and home, although I have sometimes wondered if I missed great opportunities and experiences by choosing to return to India in initial stages. Sometimes I feel I could have and should have been in USA for a longer period,” says DVR, who acquired his MS degree in Engineering Sciences from the University of California after his BTech from IIT, Madras. Over the last decade, he has developed several case studies and authored a number of research papers. He has co-authored several books. In his current avatar as `Professor of Practice in the Marketing Area’ in ISB, Hyderabad since 2016, DVR has been instrumental in shaping young business enthusiasts with his witty teaching and endless knowledge. He is also involved with several NGOs and corporates.
Prema, his other half, has always had the best interests of her family at heart and has recently turned vegan to reverse diabetes and has influenced DVR to adopt vegan lifestyle. Extremely disciplined in her food habits, Prema swears by healthy eating choices. “We must realize that food is medicine and we should know how to use food as medicine to cure the disorders that set in due to poor eating choices,” she says passionately, “I have always been a seeker of safe food and believed that being vegetarian was a mindful way of life but as the food started getting more and more unsafe with the origin unknown, I realized that we don’t need dairy products to live a healthy life. In fact, it is the contrary. I avoid intake of oil and all factory-processed food in all forms and ensure that the food we eat is organically grown. Through this discipline, I am now out of all medication and feel myself filled with energy.”
Both DVR Seshadri and Prema lead a mindful life with the choices they make consciously in all aspects of life. “As a family of three generations, we were on the lookout for a home that can not only fulfil all our requirements but also one that is eco-conscious. We are huge believers in the restorative powers of nature, and we want to live in and around nature,” says Prema.
“I think finding Kandawada is purely providential,” says DVR, “I have been on the spiritual path for a while now and I do believe that everything happens because of divine intervention. My wife is extremely happy with the prospect of living in Kandawada and so are my daughters, and grandchildren. In fact, my grand daughters did not want to go back to the US, at the end of their recent visit to India. I was touched when on the eve of their departure, they implored Prema and me, ‘Please make us vanish for a few days so that we can stay back in the salubrious environs of Organo, while our parents leave for USA!’”
“For DVR and me, priorities have changed after we entered our senior years. We are now respectively 65 and 61. Now, it’s more about mooring our boats, living healthily and peacefully as a family, being there for our kids and their kids and at the same time, doing what we feel like, something we could not do for many decades, due to various family responsibilities” saysPrema.
“Life is a constant evolution,” says DVR philosophically, “What fulfils us keeps changing as we enter distinct phases of life. If we do not re-evaluate at regular intervals, there is a huge danger of living like robots. It is of extreme importance to understand who we are and if we are being true to ourselves. And for that, we need to understand our true nature.”
“For us, the choice of living at Kandawada means investing in a life that is healthy and meaningful. That is the true luxury we are seeking,” concludes Prema.
